what i wore

Oct 31, 2013

What??? Two outfit posts in one week... yup, haven't done that since my fashion blogging days over at Girl & Closet. I'll be talking a bit more about this "personal style renewal" on Monday and sharing a personal & telling post about why I took a break from it all in the first place. So, stay tuned!

For now though, let's talk clothes. Yeah?! This is a classic "on the go" look for me when I want to feel polished but don't want to think too hard about what to wear. Which, let's face it, is most days! A great pair of skinnies & heels always seems to do the trick. How can you not look put together, right?! Also, how cute is this Old Navy sweater? I love the leather trim on the neckline and pockets + it's just so darn easy to wear. I've been wearing it with everything... my tulip skirt & booties or with my boyfriend jeans & flats. Total fall coziness!

bits of october

Oct 30, 2013

We've been enjoying one of the most beautiful Octobers that I've ever seen. It's been unbelievably warm and I don't think it's rained once. I have to admit though, now with November around the corner, I'm getting pretty excited to give our home a little holiday makeover. Anyone else? I'm eying the prettiest metallic pillows, a faux fur throw and mercury candle holders. Can't wait! Here are a few bits from our October...

The most perfect pumpkin. Wearing my beloved Cori Lynn burnt orange skirt - total fall perfection. Taking long scenic drives with my love and soaking in the sun. Entertaining friends for Canadian Thanksgiving. Fall leaves everywhere... don't you just love the red ones?! Wearing my Gap animal print flats (pssst, they're on sale) for my daily doggy walks. Spending time in my blog nook and working on a few fabulous collaborations for November. Making homemade gluten-free veggie pizza - oh man, I'm addicted! On that note, can't wait to see what lovely moments November brings!

what i wore

Oct 28, 2013

Oh my goodness, pardon the skirt wrinkles. I guess that's what happens when you spend most of your day in the car running errands and taking meetings. For this fall, I've started feeling a slight shift in my personal style as well as a general resurgence of my love for fashion, which is definitley alright with me. As for my look, I loved adding a pop of colour with this fun skirt from Cori Lynn... I wore it again the next day with my favourite Old Navy sweater & booties.

Also, I just did some much needed housekeeping on the blog. I added a fun about me page, press page, and a curated shop section. My favourite! Now (if you're so inclined) you can shop my weekly hand picked wardrobe + beauty items. I keep the selection very price-conscious, except for the odd item or two, because a girl has to splurge once in a while, right?!... ;)

5 things i love

Oct 25, 2013

tulle skirt, cori lynn // statement necklace, bauble bar // fair isle sweater (on sale!), madewell // beautiful hair, from trim salon // swooning over purple peplum, sequins and stripes blog

Hello "5 things i love" and helloooo Friday! These past two weeks have been an absolute blur for Martin & I. Packed work schedules, lots of social obligations and we both have several projects on the go. So yes, Friday. And... thank goodness for the weekend too. We're hoping to sneak away & get some much needed downtime together. I've hardly seen that handsome husband of mine! I also (insert squeals + lots of excitement) booked in with an amazing stylist in the city for a balayage treatment in November. I'm hoping to add lots of honey blonde highlights to my hair. Take a peek here: balayage highlights. I'm so ready for a colour change. Eeeee!

Wishing you a fabulous weekend!!

our first vlog

Oct 23, 2013

Ok, as promised, here is our first vlog!! I compiled 8 of the most popular questions from everyone's submissions - so thank you for taking the time to send those in! I must admit we had such a blast putting this together... I definitley hope to do another video soon. However, my iMovie skills could use some fine tuning. Man they're rusty. Yikes! Well on that note, enjoy the vlog, guys!!!

Outfit Details:
Blazer - Banana Republic
Top - Forever 21
Jeans - American Eagle (similar)
Necklace - Clyde's Rebirth
Shoes - Aldo (similar)

On my days off, I love throwing on a pair of comfy boyfriend jeans. I bought these towards the end of summer and have loved styling them. I usually wear mine with a motto jacket, a high end tweed blazer or a roomy silk sweater & scarf. You can edge them up + dress them up or down. And I always feel sassy when I wear mine. They add that unexpected twist to an otherwise classic outfit. Next on the list? Camo skinnies. I'd love to find a great pair!

Also, we shot our vlog this past weekend. We had so much fun with it and our Scout definitley stole the show. I hope to have it up for this Wednesday. Yay! I can't wait to chat with everyone as well as answer your questions. Wishing you guys a lovely & fall filled Monday... we're getting hit with so many gorgeous colours right now. I can't stop oohing and ahing!! xo

8 fall must have's

Oct 18, 2013

For fall, I decided to call on several of my favourite & local bloggers and get their top picks for fall. These pieces do not disappoint... I'm smitten with their picks, and needless to say, I'm now on the hunt for these very items!! A big thank you to all of the beautiful ladies that kindly took part in this feature!
1) Cee, of Coco & Vera picked this leather detail sweater from Shop-Bop. Honestly, how gorgeous is that leather detail? I can see it working beautifully with a pair of camo skinnies, a grey silk midi skirt or over my favourite dress.

2) Melissa, of Miss Melissa picked this stunning J.Crew silk shirtdress. A great addition to any wardrobe because of its fabulous versatility. You can dress it up or down and it's perfect for layering + you can easily take this piece from fall to summer!

3) Lynn, of Hearted Girl picked these gorgeously slouchy & laid back everyday pants from Hatch. I love how they've been styled on the model. Weekend perfection!
4) Alicia, of Alicia Fashionista picked this sheer polka dot blouse from Zara. What a great basic... I can imagine it working beautifully with a pair of cargo skinny pants for the weekend, or with a wool skirt for the office.
5) Cara, of A Fashion Love Affair picked these drool worthy boots from Piperlime. They're actually one of Rachael Zoe's fall picks as well... and man, oh man, are they awesome or what??
6) Jen, of Her Waise Choice picked this chic coat from Club Monaco and I'm in love. One of the great things about owning beautiful fall & winter coats is that you can easily add polish to any outfit. They honestly go with everything!
7) Sarah, of Girl Crush picked this gorgeous nail polish from Essie "After School Boy Blazer." I've been sporting mint nails for this fall but I think it's time to make the switch to something darker, and this colour is perfect!!
8) Alex, of To Vogue or Bust couldn't have picked a more charming messenger bag. This one is from Aritzia and I adore the wine hued leather. Tell me, what's on your guys' must have list??

thanksgiving dinner with friends

Oct 17, 2013

This year, we decided to host a small Thanksgiving dinner in our home with our friends Tim & Maria, and we honestly had such a lovely time. Our red dining nook fit the bill perfectly... I kept the table decor pretty simple with a fall hued bouquet and my favourite vintage crystal glasses from the Czech Republic (both Martin & I are from there) so they have extra special meaning. I was also intending to add a few gold gourds around the house but our local store didn't have any. Blast! However, we just grabbed a pumpkin from our community garden and I definitley intend to spray paint it gold this weekend. Fun, glam pumpkins? Sign me up!

As for my Thanksgiving outfit? I couldn't resist wearing my newly ordered Cori Lynn skirt. It's the perfect pumpkin hued shade and suited the evening beautifully. I'll be sure to feature it in a "what i wore" post, oh so soon!! xo

what i wore

Oct 15, 2013

Outfit Details:
Scarf - borrowed from Coco & Vera
Sweater - Club Monaco
Skirt - c/o Barefoot Vintage
Bracelets - Stella & Dot
Bag - KGB Black Label
Shoes - Aldo

Hello, hope my fellow Canadians enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving!! We sure did. Saturday, we hosted a wonderful dinner at our home, and the following day we went to Martin's parents house for Thanksgiving dinner. Yummy food and three days off was the perfect antidote to a stressful week... poor Martin was in a car accident on Wednesday (he's fine) but it's been a stressful one none the less.

As for my outfit? This is what I wore when we visited with friends last week in White Rock for a little lunch & dessert action. This cream skirt is definitley one of my most worn items and I love how easily it lends itself to different looks plus moods. Effortless and always polished. I suspect it'll be making a few more appearances this season. Happiest of Tuesdays, friends! ;)

new in shop for fall

Oct 9, 2013

I'm excited to be sharing a few of my new pieces from my fall/winter collection for my Etsy shop, Shore. For this collection, I was drawn to a slightly darker as well as a more modern aesthetic... I'm loving the look of the black cable chain + I'm currently obsessed with chevron shapes in jewelry. Oh, and hey, in celebration of these new pieces, I'm offering a promo code of 15% off, code: HELLOFALL. Expires October 12, and is applicable on all sale items too. Yay!

when the sun goes down

Oct 7, 2013

Outfit Details
Scarf - borrowed from Coco & Vera
Denim jacket - H&M (similar)
Dress - Old Navy
Tights - Joe Fresh
Booties - Old Navy

I thought I'd start including outfit details as well as a few outfit photos in my "daily life" posts. Only makes sense, right? I mean, I'm already dressed... sooo why not share it with you guys + I really liked how this laid-back outfit came together. Stripes and a pop of leopard? Always a win in my books!

On Friday, Martin & I packed up a quick + delicious dinner and headed down to the pier just before the sun went down... there was pumpkin pie ice-cream involved too, it was fantastic! I'll admit though, our evenings are definitley getting a lot colder. Normally I'm not a fan, but this year it's speaking to me. The streets are quieter, our nights are peaceful, and [when home] my uniform consists of a well loved sweater, pajama pants and my moccasin slippers. In a word, awesome!

PS - Thank you for your vlog questions, guys. We're excited, and hope to have something up in the next couple of weeks. So, stay tuned!

5 things i love

Oct 4, 2013

pumpkin spice cowl neck sweater, shopruche // terrarium kit, anthropologie // cutest fall outfit, chelsea of tea talk // geometric necklace, blue bird lab (etsy) // clutch, elabyela

Hello, Friday! I'm delighting in the fact that we're going on day two of beautiful & glorious sunshine. Yippee, I'm sure my fellow Vancouverites are feeling the epicness of this situation. You may have also noticed that I gave my "5 things i love" post a little re-vamp. The other format was feeling a bit cumbersome, so voila, a re-vamp it is. And there's a new blog logo in town too. Thanks to my super talented friend, Lynn of Hearted Girl. I'm smitten!

As for this weekend... we're off to see friends for a little BBQ action tomorrow and then grabbing some pumpkins for our home on Sunday. I'm hoping to paint them white, and then add gold polka dots as well as stripes. Fun, right?!

question round-up... we're doing a vlog

Oct 2, 2013

I can't believe in my 3-ish years of blogging, I have yet to do a vlog. I love seeing them from other bloggers and thought it would be a hoot to do my own. So, Martin & I will be joining forces and doing one together... we can't wait to see what kind of questions you have for us. Ask us about anything: married life, Martin's career (he's a drama teacher & actor), blogging, photography or fashion tips (hint hint, my personal fave). You can either leave a comment on the blog, or email your questions to: veronika.bytheshore(at)gmail.com
